Conservation of Natural Resources should be realized in Practice

Head of FRWO said that Conservation of natural resources should be realized in practice and it is by no means acceptable for FRWO to prepare a Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) but not to keep in practice. He stressed that Department of Conservation and Land Affairs of Natural Resources and Watershed Management Departments (NRWDs) in provinces should implement this plan.

According to FRWO's website, Dr. Massoud Mansour, Head of FRWO in a meeting to review the Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP), which was held in a webinar with the presence of managers and deputies of Conservation and Land Affairs of NRWDs in provinces throughout the country on Wednesday, said:"Basic FRWO's approach in the field of natural resources protection is conservation management of natural resources. The objective of a management plan is to ensure the protection, and meanwhile, FRWO's duty is to monitor the performance of protection".

He noted: "FRWO's targets need to be met; therefore, FRWO needs to utilize innovation initiatives and new technologies such as areal monitoring of forests online system equipped with light aircraft, systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), wireless technology, Anti-Smuggling alarm systems for trees in forest, real time Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and monitoring system and installing CCTV cameras. The new methods seem to be necessary in natural resources management."

Once again, he drew the managers' attention to the important issue of protection and prevention priority, reiterating: "Protection means that FRWO should not allow vegetation cover to be destroyed or a tree to be cut down somewhere".
